MISSIONS
The Fayette United Methodist Church is a missional church with ministries it supports locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Locally, we support several different ministries....
Nuevo Progreso House of Hope - Nuevo Progreso, Mexico is an impoverished town located on the US--Mexican boarder. The families in this area are in need of basic necessities and many children are homeless and hungry. The United Methodist Church has been sending mission teams and support to the Nuevo Progreso, Mexico area for over 20 years. Working with the Manos Juntas Ministry of the Mexican United Methodist Church, clinics, community centers and other support structures have been built and supported for the humble and gracious people of this poor region. The Fayette United Methodist Church has been participating in these annual trips since 2011, serving on the medical teams providing clinics for basic health care in the area.
Free Community Meals Monthly - The free community monthly meals are the 3rd Wednesday of Every Month at the Family Life Center (FLC) 5-6 pm. Meals are homemade and includes desserts! Imagine a week night were you don't have to figure out what to feed your family, prepare it or clean up! Bring your kids, your parents, a neighbor everyone is welcome! These meals have become a great time of fellowship for our church family, as well as many from our community.
Shoes for Eagle Feet - 2019 will be the 8th year for the Shoes for Eagle Feet Project. We have distributed over 700 pairs of new shoes to Fayette Elementary Students. The Goal for 2019 is $2,000 for 100 pairs of shoes. May's monthly mission offering brought us $374 toward this goal and June brought $50, July mission offerings will also go toward this project. August 6, 2019 will be distribution day. This year we will also be partnering with other Fayette churches to meet additional back to school needs.
Helping Hands of Fayette - We support our local food bank through the collection of food and funds as well as providing volunteers on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 1 pm for food distribution days.
Nationally, our church supports UMCOR relief efforts. Our youth and adults have also participated in several mission trips to the Columbus area.
Globally, we have provided financial support to missions in Africa, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Each year, members of our congregation, travel to provide a free medical clinic.
Because we are connected to the Global United Methodist Church, we are able to support many mission and outreach projects through our Apportioned giving to the United Methodist Church. Our connection with other churches around the world allows us to be a part of countless outreach and justice initiatives beyond our local community.
