Meet Pastor Jeff
In 2005, as Jeff was reading 1 Timothy chapter 3 and listening for a fresh word from God, he was challenged when he heard the words, “I want you to be a pastor.” Then, James 1:22 came to mind, “You must be doers of the word and not only hearers who mislead themselves.” The Holy Spirit has been guiding him ever since to live out what he heard. Now, 13 years later, the journey continues with his ordination as a full elder in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. This ordination will take place on June 5 during the Annual Conference at Lakeside.
Jeff and his wife, Suzanne, have been married for 27 years and have served together in various ministry capacities over the past 18 years including the last 4 at the Caring Points Churches located in the Deshler & Leipsic areas. Before working as a full-time pastor, Jeff was a software engineer for 25 years. He has an Electrical Engineering degree from The Ohio University and has worked in various different applications of IT. He received his Masters of Divinity from the Ashland Theological Seminary in 2012. Suzanne has a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from The Ohio State University and a Master’s degree in Children & Family Ministry from Bethel Seminary. For them, ministry is definitely a partnership, each sharing their own unique gifts and empowering others to do the same.
They have two grown children. Their son, Kale, is a graduate of Asbury University and lives in Ashland, OH. He is planning to get married in February, 2019 to his fiancée, Emily. Their daughter, Kara, got married in August of 2017 to a young man from Honduras, Angel Paredes. Both Angel and Kara just graduated from the Ohio Christian University in Circleville, OH.
When Jeff and Suzanne are not at the church or in service with the church, you might see them out walking or running around town. Jeff also enjoys getting in a few rounds of golf when he can. But more than anything, they enjoy making time to share a good meal and conversation around the table with family and friends.
